corneliusRay-Mel Cornelius paints by layering colors, one over another, to achieve a representation of light defining form.  “Since I see light as an additive element, i.e. a form is totally in shadow and basically formless until light delineates its form, I begin with a dark underpainting and define the form by applying layers using lighter tonal values until I reach the desired chiaroscuro effect.”

Julie Lieberman and Louis Clausi’s “Spirits of Savannah”

1279054_375100389298498_1843726797_o

“Spirits of Savannah” is an illustrated book of ghost encounters woven into historical fiction, and conjured into a live multimedia theatrical performance.  Set in Savannah, Georgia, the stories document 16 actual and recent ghost encounters that seamlessly combine factual and fictional histories. They are highlighted—and complemented—by original, unique illustrations that depict the “ghosts.”

The documenting phase lifted the stories—and the illustrations—off of the pages and have inspired a live multimedia theater performance. The video features a small sample of the author and artist’s vision that will immerse the audience into projected environments.

1901137_378064842335386_323949788_nArtist Julie Lieberman has been a Professor of Illustration for over 28 years. This will be her second book published, and she is currently working on a third.

Writer Louis Clausi studies communications and has been a performer for over 20 years.

“Spirits of Savannah” reached their Kickstarter goal!  See details here.
